Pre-operative assessment appointments will be generated when you are listed for surgery, chronic pain referrals are via GP or other hospital teams.
You will meet your anaesthetist before coming to theatre when you attend hospital on the day of your operation.

You will most likely be brought in to the hospital by the treating clinician for the procedure, and the majority of the time we will come and see you on the ward on the day of surgery to discuss the anaesthetic and your child’s medical history.
There is a ‘Little journey’ app for phone (apple or android) and tablets which you may find useful.
This is free to download and then you will need to type in the relevant hospital (Stoke Mandeville or Wycombe) you will be visiting, and select the theatre complex if going to the Stoke Mandeville site.
This will give you and your child a virtual reality tour of important areas that you may be able to recognise when you come for surgery.
